Siemens Gamesa launches a wind turbine of 10 MW offshore

This new wind turbine provides up to 30% more AEP than its predecessor, the SG 8.0-167 DD, by increasing its rotor diameter to 193 meters. Its 94-meter-long blades have a 29,300 m2 swept area. Each blade is nearly the same length as a soccer field. 

The technology on the offshore direct drive platform allows most components from previous generations to be reused, giving the market a short time. The prototype is expected to be installed in 2019 and is expected to be commercially available in 2022.
