Volkswagen Group to become an energy supplier for e-mobility

Following an official release, the Volkswagen Group is setting up a group company for energy supply and charge solutions. Elli Group GmbH, headquartered in Berlin, develops energy and charging products and services for the Group's brands, "underlining its strategic goal of becoming a leading provider of sustainable mobility.

Thomas Ulbrich, Volkswagen brand member responsible for E-Mobility, said: "As one of the world's largest automakers, Volkswagen will force the urgent transition to emission-neutral e-mobility for transport and energy. The new company will play a role in renewable energy supplies and intelligent charging solutions. We are thus entering a strategically relevant, extremely exciting business area that offers considerable opportunities to strengthen relationships with existing customers and access completely new customer groups.

Thorsten Nicklaß, Elli 's appointed CEO, announced that the new Volkswagen Group would also offer customers outside the Group 100% CO2-neutral green power from renewable sources. Gradually, the company will build a portfolio of smart power tariffs, wallboxes and charging stations and an IT-based energy management system.
